The foundation and ledge walls of Frank V.’s Mulkeytown, IL basement were bowing inward. Cracks had formed along the cement blocks where bowing was at its worst, which allowed water to get into the basement so he called Woods Basement Systems. Woods recommended installing Geo-Lock Wall Anchors.
Geo-Lock Wall Anchors counteract the external soil pressure that damages walls. To do this, galvanized steel anchor rods are driven through the foundation walls and connected to steel earth anchors embedded in stable soil conditions in the yard. Steel wall plates are attached to the rods on the inside of the walls and the anchors are tightened to permanently stabilize the walls in place. Geo-Lock Wall Anchors can also straighten and improve walls over time by tightening them during dry seasons.
Frank V. had cracks in his foundation and ledge walls. Those cracks had let an alarming amount of water to leak in and flood his basement so he called Woods Basement Systems. Woods found the best solution for Frank’s water problem would be a basement waterproofing system.
Wood installed CleanSpace over the cracked foundation and ledge walls as part of that waterproofing system. CleanSpace is a thick, durable vapor barrier. It’s prevents moisture from entering the basement through the walls, instead guiding it down to the drainage system below for removal. It also gives the basement a much brighter, cleaner appearance.
Frank V was concerned when he noticed that his basement walls were beginning to bow. So, he decided to call Woods Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Jeremy K was able to come up with a solution to the problem.
Foreman Jeremy R installed a Geo-Lock Wall Anchor and CleanSpace Drainage Matting. The CleanSpace, the white plastic shown above, is a heavy liner that will cover the walls of the basement, and prevent excess moisture from getting in. The Wall Anchor, the bracket also shown above, has two ends one will attach to a stable level of soil away from the house, the other end will attach to the basement walls. The device can be tightened and over time will straighten the walls.
Carl of Mulkeytown, Illinois wanted to prevent further cracking and shifting of his foundation with the help of Team Woods. Team Woods investigated the space and recommended installing Geo-Lock wall anchors to resolve the problematic walls by preventing movement.
Geo-Lock wall anchors are used as a permanent solution to restore a settled, damaged wall. These anchors pull the wall back into its original position by installing the anchors in the soil outside of the home.
Leaking basement walls can lead to damage and essentially render the space unusable. This was the case with a Mulkeytown, Illinois homeowner who was plagued with leaks any time that it rained, leading her to call Woods Basement Systems to waterproof her space. WaterGuard, a gutter-like drainage system that is placed underneath the floor at the base of the walls, was installed to catch any leaks. After this, a TwinPack sump pump was put in place. Equipped with two independently operating pumps, the TwinPack is capable of removing well over 10,000 gallons of water per hour! These measures will keep the basement totally try into the foreseeable future.
