Foundation Repair Photo Album: Foundation Walls Falling In
Terry P. had foundation walls that were in serious trouble. Pressure from the surrounding soils had begun to push the foundation walls inward, bowing them right were they met with the brick walls above. Cracks began to form in the foundation walls and they began to seperate from the walls above. If nothing was done, the foundation walls could collapse in, leaving the entire home in serious jeopardy.
Rather than wait for his home to fall apart, Terry turned to Jeremy R. from Woods Basement Systems who knew exactly what to do. Jeremy installed a series of GeoLock™ wall anchors through the damaged walls. Wall anchors use a plate fastened to the inside of the wall and a plate buried in the ground outside the wall to strengthen the failing walls. The system can even be used to pull the wall back into a straightened position!
Instead of replacing his entire foundation, Terry P. used wall anchors to permanently support his failing walls. Now he can even straigthen the walls back to their original position over time.
Cracks Are An Early Warning
Cracks appearing in foundation walls are obvious signs that foundation walls are failing.
Bowing Wall
The wall beneath the third window is bowing inward. If this continues the foundation wall won't be able to support the wall above it.
Foundation Wall Seperating from Bricks
A closer angle of the bowing wall shows that the foundation wall is seperating from the bricks above it which could lead to serious home damage.
Wall Anchors Below the Window
Several wall anchors were placed through the foundation wall to permanently strengthen it.
Anchor Screw
To install the wall anchors, a screw is drilled through the foundation wall and connected to a GeoLockâ„¢ plate outside. Once in place, the plate is installed on the inside and the system is tightened into place so it can begin supporting and straightening the wall.
Straightening Out
With wall anchors in place, the foundation wall is being straightened and supported permanently. The bowing walls are a danger of the past.
