Signs of Settlement
When entering into the basement, the major sign of foundation settlement was shown by the bricks.
Brick Foundation
These bricks were showing movement in the walls, and some contained deep-set cracks that revealed the issue would only worsen.
Stair-Stepping Crack
There were two types of cracks shown on the brick walls. The first was a stair-stepping crack. The stair-stepping crack is the result of the pressure the wall is placed under from the outside. As the wall weakens by the pressure, the crack will only grow.
Deep-Set Crack
The deep-set crack is the other type of crack the walls revealed. This crack is dangerous because if left untreated, the wall could bow.
Geo-Lock Anchors
The GeoLock wall anchor system will permanently stabilize the foundation, and it will straighten the wall back toward its original position.
Heavy-Duty Anchors
These heavy-duty anchors are installed in the soil away from the foundation walls and are then connected to the anchors on the wall to tighten the wall into place.
