It is very important when purchasing a new home to thoroughly inspect the basement for signs of leaks and water damage. It is not uncommon for sellers to attempt to hide these signs with plaster and paint, and if it isn't caught, the new owner is left with quite a mess on their hands. This was the case for South County resident Megan. Almost immediately after buying her home, she noticed water coming in from all throughout the basement walls. The water was pooling behind the plaster, creating pockets, before breaking through and entering the space. This album showcases what Megan was faced with and how the basement looks now after a Woods Basement Systems team installed several waterproofing measures. WaterGuard, CleanSpace, TripleSafe, and GeoLock were all put in place to ensure that Megan's basement remains totally dry!

Water Pools Underneath Plaster

This photo shows the pockets created underneath the plaster by water leaking through hidden cracks in the walls.

More Obvious Leaks Evident

In this particular area, a small corner storage room, the walls were not plastered over. Because of this, it is much easier to see where the water is coming in.

The customer provided Woods with this photo, drawing arrows to indicate the spots where the water is pooling, including one particular spot where the plaster has actually broken away.

Basement Almost Unrecognizable

This photo shows the waterproofing work done by Woods Basement Systems. Covering the walls is the CleanSpace encapsulation system, preventing water and moisture from entering the space. At the base of the walls, underneath the new concrete, is the WaterGuard drainage system. Finally, the silver plate on the wall to the right is the anchor to a GeoLock wall support. GeoLock supports pull the wall outward to prevent bowing.
