Brick Basement
The brick foundation was covered by cement to seal the basement. Over time the house had settled, and the cement had chipped away due to the shifting and movement of the walls.
Growing Concern
This homeowner wanted to make sure his walls were safe and secure, so he reached out to Woods Basement Systems to have a professional look over the room. Team Woods looked over the basement and agreed that the home had settled and the walls suffered from this settling.
Settlement Leads to Water Damage
The shifting of the bricks made room for water to leak in during heavy rains. Team Woods designed a plan to install Geo-Lock wall anchors into these walls to not only stabilize the walls but to permanently lock them in place to prevent water leaks from seeping in.
Geo-Locks Anchored
Geo-Lock wall anchors are anchored outside of the basement and latch onto the wall plate that is drilled into the wall. The tension created by anchoring the wall will slowly pull the wall back into its original, stable position.
Shifting Foundation
With the walls secured, now the team was ready to install push piers into the footing of the foundation. Stabilizing the home will prevent the house from shifting and cracking that threatened the safety of the home.
Push Piering System
Push piers can be installed both inside and outside of the home. For this case, they would be installed both inside and outside for complete stability. Push piers are driven into the footing of the foundation to lock and lift the foundation out of its settled position.
