Cracking in Exterior
Cracking was found above the garage. Cracking indicates that the foundation is experiencing settlement, causing the shifting and movement of the walls.
Water Damaged Walls
The lower half of the basement walls experienced years of water damage. Water damage weakens the walls over time and causes the walls to fail.
Stair-Stepping Crack
The foundation's settlement and movement caused stair-stepping cracks. This movement placed pressure on the walls, resulting in a deep-set crack.
Failing Wall Produces Crack
The basement walls were water damaged, and the weakening of this wall allowed serious cracks to develop. The homeowner tried to patch the crack that extended from the window but knew that the structure of the foundation was the root of the issue.
Creating Space for Piers
Team Woods inspected the basement and created a design to indicate where each push pier should be installed. Pictured you can see that one of the push piers was installed below a deep-set crack.
Push Piers
Push piers are one of the simplest lifting products that create minimal disturbance to install. These piers are installed below the footings of the building to lift the home into its original position.
Push Piers for Optimal Solution
Push piers are unique because they help lift the home instead of placing pressure on the basement walls. Push piers create a safe environment for the house by restoring an unstable foundation.
Several Push Piers Needed
This project called for several push piers on the exterior of the home. Push piers can be installed on both the inside and outside of the house but for this project exterior piers were optimal.
