3 Flight Helical LEAD
The lead section of a helical pier is the very first part of the piering system to be installed. The lead section may have one or two or in this case 3 flights (Disk Like Plates) depending on the Geo-technical report done by a soils engineer.
Series of Helical Piers
The footing layout from the building blue prints are followed when installing a row of pre-footing piers.
Gear Head Turns the Pier
The operator has torque gauges to watch that show the pressure needed to turn the helical pier and draw it down into the ground. The gauges read the proper amount of pressure needed as the pier goes deeper and deeper to turn the helical. That turning pressure is called torque.
Cut to Fit
Once the correct pier depth is reached then the pier is cut to the proper height for the pier cap.
Pier Cap
The square piece to the left of the pier is the cap. It is installed on top of each pier then the footing forms are framed around the row of helical piers. Then re-bar is installed around the pier cap and run the length of the footing and finally the concrete is poured to make this reinforced footing.
Pre-Footing Pier Cap
To reinforce the foundation footings and support the home, pre-footing helical piers are installed at the proper height cut and capped.
Ready for Concrete
Now the prep for the building site is completed and ready for the concrete footings.
Ready to Build
With the footings in place, the new home construction is underway.
