Before Photo of Exterior Waterproofing and Piering
This is the gap in the front stoop due to concrete piers failing and settling. The front door could not be used.
Side View of the Yard
This is the side where we did the exterior waterproofing.
Concrete Pier Pipe
The rusted pipe below the white PVC is the concrete pier tube, one of several that failed.
Cracks in Brickwork
Stair stepping cracking through the bricks are one of the signs of a settling foundation.
Push Pier Ram
The hydraulic ram is a smooth operation for installing the push piers, it does not "jerk" the structure.
Pier ram with gauge and regulator
The ram regulator allows the hydraulic fluid to bypass if pressure builds so as to keep the smooth installation of the pier tubing from "jerking" the home.
Pier Brackets
Two pier brackets are on their side but you can see the the "L" shape that one part of the "L" is placed directly below the foundation wall.
Two pier holes
The larger dug out area are where the push piers will go. The two rusty pipes are the locations of the failed concrete piers.
Corner Crack and our piers being installed
The cracking in the corner shows the settling affect and we are installing piers to correct.
More of our piers in the corner
More of our piers around the corner of the home.
More of our piers along the side
A couple more piers down the side of the home.
Waterproofing drain line downhill to the street
This exterior waterproofing did not need a sump pump since we were able to drain the water downhill towards the street.
Vertical Barrier
We installed a vertical water barrier along the foundation wall to keep water in the trench and out of the basement.
Drain Tile and rock covered by filter fabric
The waterproofing trench is filed with rock and several rows of drain tile which is covered by filter fabric. The fabric helps keep dirt from getting into the exterior waterproofing system. Just like an inside basement drain tile system, dirt can clog and ruin the working waterproofing system on the exterior too.
Filling the waterproofing trench
Notice the workers hand on the piping for one of the concrete pier that failed. After laying the fabric over the rock we fill the rest of the trench with dirt.
Filling in the trench
Adding the least of the excavated soil back into the trench.
Shaping the ground around the trench
As we back fill we shape the ground next to the trench for a better finished appearance.
All finished except for the grass seed in the spring
Completed back fill and waiting on spring for the grass seed.
