Wall Repair, Foundation Repair and Waterproofing in Carbondale, Illinois

Challenge

Carbondale, Illinois homeowner Patricia M. was distraught by her basement. Not only were her foundation walls cracked, but water was leaking into her basement through the cracks and from where the floor meets the wall. She called Woods Basement Systems seeking a solution. System Design Specialist Brandon B. visited her home to determine the problem and design a solution. Brandon discovered that her foundation was bowing under pressure. High hydrostatic pressure caused the foundation wall to bow inward and crack. Brandon also discovered that in addition to the bowing foundation, the foundation was also settling. Brandon designed a solution to waterproof Patricia’s basement and stabilize her foundation.

Solution

Because of the complexity of her problem, three foreman and their teams visited Patricia’s home to restore the foundation, walls and basement. Todd W. and his team installed Geo-Lock Wall Anchors. Geo-Lock Wall Anchors restore the foundation wall to its original position. The anchors are made of galvanized steel and driven into undisturbed soil to provide permanent support for the foundation.

Push Piers were installed by Jose Lorenzana and his crew. Push Piers are designed to restore a settling foundation. These piers stabilize the foundation by lifting it to its original position. Push Piers are secured to the footing of the foundation and are adjusted to lift and stabilize the foundation.

In addition to stabilizing the foundation, the basement was waterproofed. Ryan L. and is crew began waterproofing Patricia’s basement with WaterGuard, a perimeter drainage system. WaterGuard is installed below the floor to collect and guide water to the TripleSafe sump pump system. TripleSafe is equipped with a main pump, backup pump and battery-powered pump in order to ensure the basement stays dry. IceGuard was also installed. IceGuard is installed to the external discharge line to provide an exit for water in the event that discharge lines become frozen or clogged.

Thanks to Geo-Lock Wall Anchors and Push Piers, Patricia’s foundation is now safe and stabilized. With the waterproofing system, she will never have to worry about a wet basement. She is pleased to have a dry, safe home.
