Geo-Lock Wall Anchor System in Granite City, IL

Challenge

A Granite City, IL resident wanted to fix the bowing walls in his basement before they got any worse.  He had already put off the problem for a few years, but finally realized he was going to have to fix once and for all.  The bowing foundation walls were causing large cracks and looked as though they were on the verge of collapsing.  The resident called Woods Basement Systems with the hope that they could solve his basement worries.

Solution

Woods fixed the bowing walls with the Geo-Lock Wall Anchor system by Foundation Supportworks.  This system permanently stabilizes the basement walls and provides the best opportunity to straighten the walls over time.  Wall anchors are much quicker and less expensive than many other solutions, including complete foundation replacement.

The first step of the process is to remove an area of soil outside the home to provide a space to install the anchor.  Heavy-duty anchors are securely installed in stable soil out away from the foundation wall.  They are then connected to steel wall plates with long galvanized steel rods.  A unique feature of the Geo-Lock system is the ability to tighten the anchors when the soil around the home shrinks during dry spells.  This provides the opportunity to improve and straighten the bowing of the basement walls.  Wall anchors do not damage the interior flooring and can close cracks.  Geo-Lock Wall Anchors have numerous advantages and were the best solution to solving this resident’s bowing wall problems.
