Wet Insulation
A crawl space's fiberglass insulation tends to absorb moisture and humidity, growing mold and eventually leaking.
Debris
There were piles of insulation and debris throughout the floor of the crawl space. Moisture caused the insulation to fall from between the floor joists.
Makeshift Pier
One of the floor joists was resting on the pier holding that section of the floor up which is not an ideal way to keep your floors from sagging..
Effects of Moisture
Not having the crawl space encapsulated is why the insulation has fallen from the crawl space ceiling.
Vapor Barrier
We highly suggest having some sort of encapsulation on your crawl space but this vapor barrier liner isn't doing much for this space as you can see. To be effective, it needs to be air tight and sealed and some sort of waterproofing system to capture the moisture.
SmartJack® XT System Up-close
Up-close look at our SmartJack® XT. This system is made of zinc-plated and galvanized steel components so they resist corrosion.
Tightening the SmartJack® XT
Here our foreman is tightening the jack which lifts it so the floor is no longer sagging or sloping.
