Crawl Space Entrance
Crawl space entrances can be anywhere around the home. This one was easily accessible and outside of the home.
Crawl Space Vent Covers
We installed vent covers over the crawl space vents to keep the crawl space airtight! We have several color options to match the ant foundation.
Crawl Space Before Encapsulation
A look at the crawl space of this home. When we encapsulate the crawl space we encapsulate the piers too.
Old Vapor Barrier
Most home builders will use a plastic sheet as a vapor barrier in the crawl space. As you can see, it does not seal anything and allows moisture in.
Vent Cover
Airtight crawl space vent covers were installed around the outside of the home where vents are. The vents are made from tough PVC plastic and are sized to fit over standard crawl space vent openings.
Insulation
In order to seal & insulate the rim joist, insulation is cut to fit between the joists. Spray foam is then applied to seal edges and gaps around rim joist penetrations.
Encapsulating Piers
Our vapor barrier is installed around everything, including piers.
Crawl Space Sump Pump
SmartSump™ crawl space drainage systems are specifically designed for crawl spaces. It has a low profile, making installation in tight spaces easier.
Dehumidifier
In this crawl space, we installed a dehumidifier that controls humidity automatically to prevent mold growth, wood rot, and odors. This unit drains into the sump automatically.
No Freezing Lines
We installed an underground discharge line with a cap installed on the outside of the line that keeps the lines from freezing.
Discharge Line Cover
At the other end of the discharge line is a cover that is designed to allow water to follow through freely, but not debris or critters.
Crawl Space Entrance Up Close
The vapor barrier went all the way to the entrance of the crawl space but didn't do much good because the water was still able to seep into the space.
