Downhill Drainage
Water wants to be at a level spot and will travel until it hits the lowest point it will reach. Having a home where the back is at lower grade than the front of the home can cause problems if the backyard has been leveled out. Backfill around the home will give the draining water a low point to go to but it will end up in the basement. We must install proper drainage to overcome this problem.
Typical Home Drainage
Old home drainage solutions included rocks and black piping. As we can see here, this is not effective because the dirt and rocks can get into the line. When the line is clogged or filled it cannot work.
Covering the Rocks Doesn't Help Either
Covering the drainage system with dirt or mulch over the rocks also beings havoc to the line. The dirt can still get through the rocks and into the line. Leaving the rocks uncovered keeps the line as clear as possible.
LawnScape at End of Drainage Line
A LawnScape drainage outlet will make the end of the drainage line blend into the ground and reduce risk of injury. It also increases the beauty of the yard, keeps critters out, and makes landscaping easier. Once the grass grows back this outlet will be unnoticed.
Leaks to the Inside
Water pooling in the landscaping at the top of the wall will make its way inside and down the wall causing problems inside. The problem is, these leaks will often be behind the drywall creating an environment will filled with moisture and mold before any signs are seen.
