Attaching the fittings to the side of this St Louis home
Holes are drilled in the side of the home where the fittings will be installed. The pipes are inserted in the holes to where they will be fitted outside of the home as well as the interior of the basement to the sump pump.
The main discharge pipe is laid down and measured
The main pipe where the water will be draining from the home is connected and laid beneath the fittings where later it will be connected.
A trench is needed to be dug out for the pipe
In order for the pipe to be installed in the ground, a trench needs to be dug out. The trench is dug from the beginning of where the fittings are, all the way to the end of the pipe leading away from the home.
Trench is dug all the way to the end of the pipe
Due to rain, the ground may be softer or harder than expected and may need more attention when having to dig the trench. Each side of the trench will be dug out.
The other side of the trench is now dug
Each side must be dug as a we need all of the dirt to be removed from the ground.
Dirt is removed and placed on one side
Once the dirt is dug, it is removed and place along the side of the trench. A white liner is placed along the side for extra dirt that we not be needed when the pipe goes in.
Extra dirt is placed on the white liner
Dirt that is not needed to go back in the trench is placed on the white liner and will be removed from the area. The grass is removed in squares to make it easier to put back and grow properly in the ground once again.
Measure twice cut once is key
Measuring the main pipe up to the fitting in the side of the home to see where the pipe will be cut. All homes are different and measuring is the most important part.
A water drain is important for the water flowing
Awater drain at the end of the trench is installed where the water will be lead from the basement away from the home. The Drain is connected to the end of the pipe and sites a few inches out of the ground allowing all the water to drain out of it properly.
Dirt is placed back in the trench
When the pipe is all connected, the dirt that was placed along the side of the trench is put back in to cover the pipe and make the original landscape look the same. All extra dirt will be taken away from the area.
The grass patches are put back
All the grass squares that laid on the surface are now placed back on top where they once sat. They will sit a little out of the ground as they will settles back in the ground over time.
Finishing up the rest of the grass connecting the fittings
The rest of the grass patches are put back and the pipes are glued together so that they will to come apart for years to come as well as prevent leaks.
IceGuard has now been Installed
The IceGuard has now been properly installed on the outside of the home. On the Exterior of the Basement, Pipes from the sump pump will be connected to complete the system.
