Exterior discharge lines can freeze in cold seasons or clog up over time with leaves, grass, and other debris. IceGuard prevents frozen or clogged discharge lines from backing up into the basement sump pit and causing a problem. If the exterior discharge line becomes clogged or frozen, water will spill out of the IceGuard before it flows back into the sump pit.
