This basement in Belleville, IL. was in need of a perimeter drainage system that would protect their finished basement space from leaks that would ruin the carpet and damage anything in the space.
To protect their home, foreman Greg H. installed WaterGuard™, a customizable perimeter drainage system that would protect the home from leaks that come through the floor or the wall. Often, homes will experience leaks as they rise from below the home and through the tiny gap between the floor and the foundation walls. WaterGuard™ is installed beneath this gap, just on top of the footing. From this location, WaterGuard™ can collect and drain any water that would rise into the basement before it can reach the floor's level. Other perimeter drainage systems are installed along side the footing, claiming that this location is better for collecting and clearing away water.
The difference between those systems and WaterGuard™ is more than just location, those systems require filter fabrics to prevent mud from getting in and clogging the system while WaterGuard™ does not need those filters because it sits above the mud. Eventually, those filters will clog and then the drainage system won't work anymore. Since WaterGuard™ doesn't have those filters it won't clog.
WaterGuard™ also has another feature that other perimeter drainage systems don't have: a built-in wall gap. This tiny, covered gap between the floor and the wall allows WaterGuard™ to drain away leaks that come through the wall as well as leaks that rise from below the floor.
Once WaterGuard™ is installed, the trench that was dug for it is repaired with fresh concrete and the floor above it can be replaced. The carpet in this basement - as well as the rest of the basement - is now protected from flooding thanks to the WaterGuard™ perimeter drainage system.
Wet Basement
The basement was leaking, causing the floors and walls to be wet and damaged.
Pulling Up the Carpet
The carpet needed to be pulled up because of the damage done by the water leak.
Finished Installation
After WaterGuard™ is installed, the trench is recovered with fresh concrete, hiding the system from view and making the floor feel whole again.
Installing WaterGuard™
Once the trench is dug, tracks of WaterGuard™ are placed in them just on top of the footing.
