Failed Epoxy Injection Crack Repair
Behind the stove in the basement, a previously-injected crack had re-opened and was contributing to basement flooding during heavy rains.
Exterior Foundation Cracks
These foundation wall cracks had previously been injected, but the cracks were continuing to crack further.
Leaking Cracks Hiding Behind Basement Pantry
Several leaking wall cracks were discovered behind the drywall in the kitchen pantry of this St. Charles, Missouri basement. One appeared to have been an epoxy crack injection that failed, while the other cracks were getting worse and worse over time.
Basement Wall Vapor Barrier
Cracks hidden behind the drywall were covered with the CleanSpace Wall vapor barrier and drained into the perimeter drainage system.
Hidden Foundation Problems Behind Drywall
When the crew began to cut drywall to install the waterproofing system, they uncovered several more cracks that signaled foundation settlement.
Hairline Cracks Behind Drywall
One hairline leak in your foundation wall, and your basement could get wet. Cracks get worse over time, and a hairline crack can easily become a leaking crack.
Preparing for Perimeter Drainage
Whether interior footing drains or WaterGuard are installed, the perimeter of the basement floor has to be removed so a drain can be installed. WaterGuard is less disruptive than other interior drainage systems.
Clogged Interior Footing Drains
While removing the perimeter of the basement floor to install a drainage system, the crew uncovered an existing drain tile system along the footing. The problem with interior footing drains is not so much the shape as it is the location. A pipe with holes meant to accept water that is then placed below the floor and in the soil is begging to be clogged. When water cannot drain to a sump pump, the basement floor gets wet...or worse.
Clogged vs. Non-clogging
Interior footing drains sit down beside the footing, in the dirt, where they clog over time with mud and silt. WaterGuard sits on top of the footing, out of the mud, so it will never clog.
Sump Pump Failure
The area is called Weldon Spring, Missouri for a reason: perhaps for its well-done spring. Though functional, this sump was unable to keep up with the flow of water entering at cracks and joints and rising up from under the basement floor. There was a lot of water along the basement footing and under the basement floor.
Leaking Wall Cracks and Joints
Groundwater leaked in at cracks and joints along the poured concrete walls. Some cracks had already been injected by another contractor, but these cracks were still leaking.
CleanSpace Wall System
The CleanSpace Wall System encapsulates the basement walls, sealing off moisture from the basement walls and draining leaks into a perimeter drainage system.
Foundation Wall Cracking and Leaking
Just inches from a failed epoxy crack injection, a foundation crack at the basement wall joint was a huge source of groundwater leaks.
Drywall in Basements: A Rotten Idea
Mold loves wet wood. Wall framing and drywall are both wood-based components that get wet when a basement leaks. Mold thrives on wet, organic materials like wood.
Foundation Supportworks Push Piers
The best solution for foundation settlement are hydraulically-driven, steel push piers. These round-shafted piers are driven to stable soil and help prevent further foundation settlement.
Push Pier Installed
After push piers are installed, the basement floor in concreted and restored.
BEFORE: Cracked & Leaking Basement Wall
Groundwater seepage is not the only source of basement water problems. Cracks in the foundation or leaking joints in the basement walls can just as easily flood your basement.
AFTER: Encapsulated Basement Walls & Battery Backup Sump Pump
The CleanSpace Wall System seals off leaking cracks and joints and directs water into the WaterGuard drainage system, where it is then drained to a sump pump and discharged away from the home.
BEFORE: Failed Single-Pump System
Sump pumps are mechanical and can fail without notice. The 3 main causes of sump pump failure are mechanical failure, large volumes of water overwhelming the pump, and power outages.
AFTER: TripleSafe Sump Pump System with Battery Backup
The TripleSafe system include primary and secondary pumps in case one pump fails or cannot keep up with the amount of water. It also includes a third, battery backup pumping system in case a circuit breaker trips or the power goes out.
UltraSump Battery Backup Pumping System
Made for long-term standby use, the UltraSump Battery Backup Pumping System puts out steady power for long periods of time and can pump over 2,000 gallons per hour.
120 Amp Battery Backup
This long-term standby battery powers the UltraSump and allows it to pump over 12,000 gallons of water when fully-charged.
Air-tight Floor Drain
The airtight floor drain built into the two-piece, airtight lid of the TripleSafe drains water from plumbing leaks without letting damp air come up into your basement.
WaterWatch Alarm System
The alarm sounds off like a smoke detector when water rises above all pump operating ranges. You'll be alerted of any pump failure before a flood happens.
Annual Maintenance Program
Woods Basement Systems offers an annual service program to maintain waterproofing and foundation repair systems. This way, your basement continues to stay dry, and our technicians can spot any new developments before they become a problem.
Sump Pump Discharge & Downspout
The previous sump pump discharge line (left) tied into a black, corrugated pipe that extended across the lawn. Mowing was a hassle until Woods Basement Systems installed the TripleSafe Sump Pump system and buried the discharge lines.
IceGuard Sump Pump Discharge Line Protection
Exterior sump pump discharge lines can become clogged, or water in the pipes can freeze during cold weather. To protect these homeowners from a flooded basement due to frozen or clogged discharge lines, Woods Basement Systems installed IceGuard on each discharge line. IceGuard allows water to discharge outside instead of backing up into the sump pit and flooding your basement.
Sump Pump Discharge
The LawnScape Outlet discharges water from the sump pump away from your home and blends right into your lawn.
Responsible Basement Waterproofing
When people spot one of these trucks in their neighborhood, they know their friends and neighbors called the right company. With nearly 30 years of experience and over 36,000 past customers, it's likely someone you know has a dry basement warrantied by Woods Basement Systems.
SaniDry Basement Air System
To eliminate humidity, odors, and mold, these homeowners requested the SaniDry basement air system. Some of our customers call it a "basement miracle machine," because the unit transforms the way your basement smells and feels. SaniDry XP dehumidifies the basement space, dries the building materials in the basement, and filters the basement air.
Prevent Mold & Reduce Odors with SaniDry
Mold needs 3 things to survive: organic material, mold spores, and relative humidity. Basements are full of organic material—wood, drywall, latex paint. Mold spores are everywhere. The only factor you can control is the relative humidity. Mold needs relative humidity above 60%. With the SaniDry, you can set the humidity level to 55% and forget it!
