Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Waterproofing and Cracked Walls
This basement in Urbana, IL. had serious cracking in the foundation walls that would allow water to leak into the basement. Water could also leak into the basement through other areas, like the tiny gap between the floor and the walls.
To deal with the water that entered the home, the homeowners installed several sump pump systems that would remove water from around the home. But these sump pumps could still be improved. That's why homeowner Steven B. hired Woods Basement Systems to replace an old sump pump system with the TripleSafe™ system.
The TripleSafe™ is a sump pump system that features three seperate pumps in a single sump liner. These three pumps can work together to drain water at incredibly high rates and, because one of the pumps is battery-powered, the TripleSafe™ can even protect the home when the power goes out. All the water that gets pumped out of the TripleSafe™ travels through two discharge lines and outside through the IceGuard™ system. The TripleSafe™ uses two discharge lines to allow its pumps to remove water at twice the rate of single-line systems. After all, it doesn't matter how many pumps are in a system if there is only one discharge line to deal with all the water that gets expelled by the pump.
Once outside, the water from the sump pump passes through the IceGuard™ system. IceGuard™ is an attachment on the discharge line that will prevent water from building up in the discharge line and backing up into the sump pump in the event that the end of the discharge line is blocked or frozen shut. When the discharge line gets blocked, water will back up in the pipe up to the IceGuard™ system. From there, the water will leak out of the gaps of the IceGuard™ attachment and out of the home. Without it, water could back all the way up to the sump pump, where it could then flood the basement.
With the new TripleSafe™ and IceGuard™ systems in place, this home will be protected against flooding in all kinds of conditions.
Cracked Wall
Cracks like this (particularly ones near window wells) will often leak, letting water enter the home and cause damage.
Original Sump Pump
This sump pump would be replaced with the TripleSafe™, which offers a greater degree of flood protection thanks to its three pumps and battery backup.
The TripleSafe™
This TripleSafe™ sump pump system is an upgrade over the old system thanks to its three pumps and battery backup.
Two is Better Than One
These dual discharge lines extend from the TripleSafe™ and carry water outside. By having two discharge lines, the TripleSafe™ can effectively expell twice as much water from the basement than other systems.
Dual IceGuard™ Attachments
Water from the sump pump will pass through these IceGuard™ attachments, which will prevent water from backing up and flooding the basement in the event that the end of the discharge line is blocked by debris or frozen closed.
