Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Waterproofed Basement with a new Sedona
Homeowner Connie M. from Springfield, IL. had previously turned to Woods Basement Systems to install waterproofing and wall supports. Now it was time to perform a routine maintenance inspection on the systems that were installed.
Cory S. was able to come to the home and inspect the WaterGuard™ system as well as the wall anchors and the TripleSafe™ sump pump system. The WaterGuard™ system is a perimeter drainage system that collects water from beneath the floor before it can rise into the basement. A built in wall gap will also allow WaterGuard™ to catch any water that might leak through the walls and prevent it from pooling up on the floor.
That water is directed to the TripleSafe™ sump pump system, which uses three powerful pumps to eject the water from the home. The TripleSafe™ also utilizes a battery-powered backup pump to keep it working when the power goes out. All of the water from the sump pit gets pumped through two discharge lines and outside through the IceGuard™ system. The IceGuard™ system is a specially designed attachment that will allow water to be pumped out of the home continously, even if the end of the discharge line is blocked by debris or ice. This feature will ensure that the basement doesn't flood simply because the water in the sump pump didn't have anywhere to go.
Cory S. also inspected the wall anchor system. Although the wall anchors are not a waterproofing tool, Woods Basement Systems uses them to support and strengthen failing foundation walls. Wall anchors work by attaching an interior support plate to an exterior anchor plate with a steel rod. The plates are tightened on the rod, pulling them towards one another. Because the anchor plate is buried in compact soil, it will not move, so the interior plate is pulled outward. This will pull the wall into a straighter position and keep it supported against the forces that pushed it inward in the first place.
While inspecting these products that Woods Basement Systems installed, Cory S. also took the opportunity to add a new Sedona dehumidifier. The Sedona is a powerful dehumidifier that can wring over 12 gallons of water out of the air in a single day. All of this water will get dumped directly into the TripleSafe™ sump pump so that there is no need to empty buckets of water to keep the dehumidifier running. The drier air that the Sedona supplies will help keep the home feeling comfortable and will also help make the home more energy efficient. If that wasn't enough, the built in air filter is able to remove small particles like mold spores and dust mite droppings from the air, making the air feel cleaner and more breathable.
Connie M. can rest easy knowing that her waterproofing systems have been inspected and are working well and that the air in her home is dry and clean thanks to the Sedona dehumidifier.
WaterGuard™ After Install
WaterGuard™ is installed just beneath the floor. Once installation is complete, the floor is repaired with fresh concrete and WaterGuard™ is practically hidden away.
Original Sump Pump
The old sump pump in this home was a single pump unit in a pit with no liner or lid. There was certainly a lot of room to upgrade.
The New Sump Pump
This TripleSafe™ sump pump system was installed with its special liner and lid to make sure this basement is protected from water leaks.
IceGuard™ Attachments
Water pumped out by the TripleSafe™ will pass through these IceGuard™ attachments, which will ensure that water is getting pumped outside even if the end of the discharge line is blocked or frozen.
Wall Anchors
These small plates are the inside portion of the wall anchor system. They will help pull the wall into a straight and supported position and will permanently prevent the wall from bowing inward.
Sedona Dehumidifier
This Sedona unit will dry the air in the basement, which will in turn help improve air quality throughout the home. Dry air is also a key in combating the growth of mold if it is in the home.
