Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Stopping Leaks Beneath a Stone Path
Joe and Cindy S. noticed water leaking through the cracks between the walls and the floor in one corner of their home. Rain water could drain straight through the rock path on the side of their home and threaten the walls and floor with seepage.
Foreman Bradley M. had the tools to protect their basement. First he needed to address the seepage in the basement. He installed WaterGuard™ under the floor to direct any water seepage to the sump pump system so it could be removed from the home. WaterGuard™ is a high-flow water drainage piping that doesn't rely on filter fabrics that could clog and slow the rate of water flow.
With the WaterGuard™ system in place, Bradley M. reconcreted the floor to hide away the system and restore the floor and wall to the way they were before they were removed. Finally, Bradley installed a drainage line so that the water collected by WaterGuard™ and pumped out by the sump pump was piped away from the home where it wouldn't leak back inside.
A drainage pipe was installed beneath clean stone under the path where the water seemed to be leaking in. This pipe would allow water from inside to flow out to the end of the drainage line as well as absorb some of the water draining in from above and preventing it from even reaching the foundation walls.
There are now two levels of water defense in Joe and Cindy's home to protect their basement from damaging water leaks.
Messy Floors
Water seepage not only damages homes, but it can also bring dirt and mold with it, which can dirty and damage the floors like in this basement.
Damaged Walls
Water that leaks in can damage walls as well as promote mold growth in the home.
Water Leaking in the Corner
Water seeped through small gaps between the wall and floor here and damaged the floor boards.
WaterGuard™ In, Walls Replaced
After installing WaterGuard™ the floor is reconcreted and the wall is replaced so the room is as attractive as it was before.
Drainage Line
A drainage line is burried beneath the rock path. In addition to directing water from the sump pump away from the house, it can also catch some water before it even leaks in.
