Since the basement of a home is the lowest level of the house, water leaks are a common occurrence. This was all too familiar to Mike of Edwardsville, Illinois who had noticed a few leaks accumulating after a heavy rain and knew that he needed to protect his home before the damages escalated. Team Woods looked over the basement led by system design specialist, Brian S., who designed a waterproofing plan for Mike's basement. Brian utilized a TwinPack sump pump in his design along with WaterGuard drains along the perimeter of the basement. Head foreman Melvin F. led Woods' installment team to ensure all WaterGuard drains were correctly installed in the footing of the basement walls and then helped install the TwinPack sump pump. Since Mike made the decision to invest in the safety of his basement, he can now enjoy a safe and dry space.

Protective Waterproofing

This homeowner wanted to utilize his basement for extra storage space. Since water would leak in during heavy rains, he knew he needed to protect his basement by waterproofing the area.

Leading into the Basement

Even upon entering the basement the walls revealed water damage. Although it's common to believe that water damage only affects the appearance of the walls, the issue is much deeper.

What impact does water damage have?

Water damage can weaken the structure of the foundation. The more the walls are exposed to water, the faster the wall will weaken due to the water breaking it down. In this St. Louis, Missouri basement water would leak in where the wall meets the floor.

No Sump Pump

One of the most essential waterproofing products that Team Woods recommends for every basement or crawl space is a sump pump. A sump pump is how the pesky water leaks will exit the home. If a basement or crawl space doesn't have a sump pump, the water will remain in the home and create more damage.

CleanSpace

Before Woods' top waterproofing products were installed, a CleanSpace system was installed on every basement wall to direct wall water leaks to the floor where WaterGuard drains will be installed. A CleanSpace barrier also serves the purpose of creating a water-resistant barrier to prevent the wall from damage. This system leaves the walls looking bright, clean, and dry!

Adding a Sump Pump

Team Woods installed a TwinPack sump pump into the basement to discard of the water leaks. Unlike other sump pumps on the market, this sump has a battery-backup pump to ensure the system is working during power outages or if the primary pump fails.

Drainage System

Finally, a WaterGuard system was installed in the footing of the basement walls. Now with the help of WaterGuard, water leaks that had previously entered through the bottom of the basement walls will be unable to enter into the basement.
