Waterproofing Makeover in Glen Carbon, IL
Challenge
This Glen Carbon, IL resident was having almost every kind of water problem imaginable in his basement. His window wells were leaky, there were large cracks in his walls, his sump pump was unreliable, and he didn’t have a proper waterproofing system. His basement would flood during heavy rains, and he was tired of having to deal with that problem. He wanted a permanent solution to his basement needs.
Solution
Woods Basement Systems gave his basement a complete waterproofing makeover by installing WellDuct, UltraSump, and WaterGuard.
The WellDuct window well drainage system is a proven solution for leaky windows. The window well is cleaned out on the outside and filled with clean stone and a grate. This allows the water to drain out of the well and through a small hole that is drilled in the wall to the inside just below the window sill. The water runs down inside the WellDuct track to the WaterGuard system, where it is carried to the sump pump and taken out and away from the home.
The crack repair system eliminates messy, unreliable epoxy or urethane injection. It is a clean and effective way of closing cracks in basement walls. The crack is sealed with a special flexible sealant on the surface of the crack from top to bottom. Then a strip of 3 ½” wide foam material covers the crack, draining any water into the pipe drainage system on the floor. An overcoat of special sealant is applied over the crack, completely sealing the crack. The crack repair system will not crack or leak and is a permanent solution to keeping wall cracks dry.
The UltraSump is an extremely reliable sump pump with a battery-operated back up pump. If the primary pump fails because the water level is too high or power is lost, the second pump will automatically kick on. The resident can have peace of mind knowing the basement will stay dry, no matter what the situation.
WaterGuard is a piping system specifically designed to solve basement water problems without the worry of clogging pipes. It has large holes in the back, and a flange with special segments for water to enter through. WaterGuard is engineered not to sit in the dirt, so clogging from silt and sediment under the floor isn’t something the homeowner has to worry about. The WaterGuard system can be installed with all types of foundations including block, poured concrete, and stone.
All of these products work together to permanently waterproof the basement, resulting in a dry basement all the time and a happy homeowner.
