Saint Louis, MO Basement gets Waterproofed
Challenge
David and Kahra had complaints about their basement. They found that water was getting into their basement and that their sump pump wasn't doing a good enough job. They were also worried about the winter months and potential clogging that could occur in their pump. If their pump wasn't powerful enough to get the water out in the summer what could happen to their basement in the winter if the pump clogged? David and Kahra decided to make a call to Woods Basement Systems and see what their options could be to better prepare themselves.
Solution
The System Design Specialist told them about WaterGuard, IceGuard, a Twin Pack Sump Pump, and LawnScape. Water Guard is a basement waterproofing system specifically designed for basements. Weep holes are drilled into block walls to drain water out of the walls into the system. Water enters the system via inlet holes and flows in the WaterGuard. This system is designed to separate itself from the soil so it will never clog and this then drains into the Twin Pack.
The Twin Pack is a double sump pump. Pump one is a Zoeller M-53 1/3 hp pump that does the pumping most of the time. It is a reliable, efficient, smooth running pump. Pump two is a Zoeller M-98 1/2 hp high volume pump. This pump operates when either pump one fails, or if it cannot keep up with a heavy flow of water. If these pumps are working at the same time they will remove up to 6,200 gallons per hour out of the basement.
The water then gets pumped outside of the house through the IceGuard and out the LawnScape. The IceGuard allows water to escape from a sump pump discharge line if the pipe freezes or becomes blocked. The patented design automatically allows water to escape through its perforations. Once the water passes through this system, it flows out the LawnScape. This is directed away from the house so water will run away form it and not cause damage. With all these systems installed, David and Kahra's basement is now protected and they no longer worry about their sump pump getting backed up or their basement leaking.
