Foundation Settlement and Waterproofing in St. Peters, MO
Challenge
This resident of St. Peters, MO had water damage in her basement due to her home’s foundation settling. The settlement caused large cracks in the foundation walls, which were letting water into the basement when it rained. The homeowner wanted to close the cracks and also have a reliable waterproofing system installed in her basement.
Solution
Woods Basement Systems closed the cracks by installing Push Piers along the outside perimeter of the wall. Push piers are made of steel and are driven deep into bedrock in order to stabilize the home. They can be installed from the interior or exterior and have a quick installation time compared to other solutions. Push piers provide an opportunity to lift the home back toward its original position and close the cracks in the foundation walls.
Woods also installed WaterGuard and a TripleSafe sump pump in order to permanently waterproof her basement. WaterGuard is a piping system specifically designed to sit on top of the footing rather than beside it, so it does not become clogged with the dirt and debris from below. The TripleSafe is a three-pump system that effectively keeps basements dry. If the first pump fails, pump 2 kicks in. If the first pump can’t keep up with the amount of incoming water, then both pumps 1 and 2 work to get the job done. If power is lost, a third battery operated pump takes over automatically. The WaterGuard system and TripleSafe are a guaranteed way to keep water out of any basemet.
The resident was very pleased with the work done by Woods and now enjoys a dry basement all the time.
