Leaky Basement in Alton, IL
Challenge
An Alton, IL resident had a flooded basement due to leaky window wells and cracks in the walls. He had tried sealing the cracks himself in the past, but it wasn’t enough to keep the water out. The flooding window wells were causing basement leakage, and the resident wanted to put an end to it once and for all.
Solution
Woods Basement Systems sealed the cracks with a repair material, solved the leaky window well issue with WellDucts, and installed WaterGuard waterproofing system.
The crack repair system eliminates messy, unreliable epoxy or urethane injection. It is a clean and effective way of closing cracks in your basement walls. The crack is sealed with a special flexible sealant on the surface of the crack from top to bottom. Then a strip of 3 ½” wide foam material covers the crack, draining any water into the pipe drainage system on the floor. An overcoat of special sealant is applied over the material, completely sealing the crack. It will not crack or leak and is a permanent solution to keeping wall cracks dry.
The WellDuct window well drainage system is a proven solution for leaky windows. The window well is cleaned out on the outside and filled with clean stone and a grate. This allows the water to drain out of the well and through a small hole that is drilled in the wall to the inside just below the window sill. The water runs down inside the WellDuct track to the WaterGuard system, where it is carried to the sump pump and taken out and away from the home.
WaterGuard is a waterproofing system that is designed to sit on top of the footing rather than beside it so it doesn’t become clogged with the dirt and debris from below. It is a permanent basement waterproofing solution and is designed to work with the WellDuct system.
All of these products together resulted in a dry basement and a happy customer.
