Photo Album: An Uncomfortable Upstairs in O'Fallon,IL
This O'Fallon,IL home owner came to Dr. Energy Saver with an umcomfortable upstairs, canteliver, and needed to improve thier indoor air quality. Dr. Energy Saver came to home and did some tests to figure out what the problem was and then to solve those problems. To make the upstairs more comfortable thier was attic work that needed to be done. The attic was air sealed to seal off air penetrations coming through the ceiling where there was top plates, gaps, holes, wires, and much more with spray foam. The vertical knee was insulated with SilverGlo and sealed with foam. Ventilation baffles were put in to keep a good ventilation throughout the attic. Fiberglass insulation was blown into the attic to give this home the proper thermal barrier it needed to make it more comfortable. The cantilever was air sealed and insulated. The rim joist was sprayed with 2 part spray foam to seal all air penetrations and to give the rim joist insulation which improved the air quality of this home.
Insulation in a Rim Joist
Insulation doesn't stop air from coming in or out of the rimjoist. The insulation just acts like a filter for the dust and dirt particles. Dr. Energy Saver uses the 2 part spray foam to seal the air penetrations and to insulate the rim joist.
Bad Ventilation
Without having good ventilation in your moisture and fumes and just sit up in your attic. This can ruin your roof over time.
Spray Foamed Rim Joist
The 2 part spray foam gives the rim joist insulation as well as it seals all the air penetrations.
Insulated Knee Wall
This knee wall was insulated with foam board and then air seal with spray foam. This gives the knee wall insulation as well as seals the air penetrations coming up from the ceiling.
Vent Baffles
Vent Baffles were put into this attic to keep a good ventilation throughout the attic. If the eve is blocked off with insulation this could cause ice damning which will ruin the roof and attic.
