This Glen Carbon,IL home was wasting majority of thier energy. They came to Dr. Energy Saver to see why thier energy costs were coming up so high. Dr. Energy Saver found that thier cantilevers had a lot of thier leakage in it. The draft in the fireplace needed to be fixed. The air air turn was pulling attic air into the HVAC system. Dr. Energy Saver used 2 part spray foam to seal the cantilvers for the home. This sealed the cantilevers air penetrations as well as giving the cantilevers insulation. Chminey balloon was put in the chimney to reduce the draft. The air returns were sealed to stop attic air from pulling into the HVAC system. Two part spray foam was applied to the plenum in the attic to stop energy-wasting leaks and prevent heat loss/heat gain. Vent baffles were put into the attic to create ventilation throughout the attic.

Sealing and Insulating a Rim Joist with Spray Foam

A lot of inside air was being lost to the outside while the outside air was being sucked in. The 2 part spray foam was used to seal off all of these air penetrations as well as insulate the rim joist.

Holes like this suck up a lot of energy up into the attic. Dr. Energy Saver will seal all of these in the attic.

Many holes of different sizes will be in the attic and a lot of air is lost. In some cases you can see the basement from attic and these holes need to be sealed.

Bad Insulation

Insulation doesn't stop air from coming through your rim joist. The insulation will just act like a filter and capture the dirt and dust particles. Dr. Energy Saver uses the 2 part spray foam to seal these air penetrations and it gives the cantilever/rim joist insulations.

Plenum

This is where your ducts connect act so all of your is going to go through here. It is very important to have this sealed other wise attic air will be sucked in and conditioned air will be lost.
