Backing Up Your Basement: Battery Back-Up for Sump Pump to Prevent a Wet Basement Again
You may think that since your basement already has a sump pump in it, you won't have to worry about water leaking in and causing problems. But this is not always the case. Some sump pumps can only contain a certain amount of water, and it may not be able to handle the amount of water that is entering it. Also, they are normally plugged into the wall, so what if the power goes out during a big storm? Or worse, the pump is slowly wearing out and suddenly just quits. Then you will have nothing to pump out any water at all. If you have the right equipment, problems such as these won't be ones you have to worry about. There are plenty kinds of backup systems, and knowing which one to choose to provide the best protection is crucial in keeping your basement dry all the time.
To make sure your sump pump is able to pump out all of the water that enters it plus more, we recommend our one-of-a-kind TripleSafe Sump Pump System. It is able to hold one primary Zoeller cast iron pump that does most of the work, and an additional pump that will operate if the first one isn't able to keep up as it wears out and quits completely. Additionally, there is a third pump that can be installed to provide even more protection. This one is our battery-operated UltraSump System.
The UltraSump Pump will turn on automatically if the main power shuts off or is accidentally unplugged. It is provided with either one or two maintenance-free batteries that can pump up to 24,000 gallons of water with a 1.5-inch discharge line. It includes a 120 amp/hour pack and an automatic charging system. It also has an alarm that will inform you when it is being used so you can restore the primary pump’s power when it returns.
Having a sump pump that can handle the amount of water that is entering it is crucial, and having the additional protection of a battery backup pump such as the UltraSump System can play a huge part in keeping the basement dry all the time!
