Protecting Your Foundation During a Drought

“Those voids allow the house to settle and then create cracks in the foundation,” said Warchol.

Foundation cracks are only the beginning.  The next heavy downpour of rain could cause yet another problem.  Water rushing into cracks in the ground around a home can have the opposite effect that a drought does.

“[Oversaturated soil] can push foundation walls in,” said Warchol.
