Our previous two blogs in this series discussed levels one and two, toxic compounds and infectious illness. In this post, we will discuss the Environmental Protection Agency’s third danger level of indoor air quality, allergens and particulates.
Some common allergens and particulates that can occur naturally in homes are dust, pollen, pet dander, insect debris, and smoke. They travel up through air ducts and throughout the home. This can cause loved ones in your home to suffer from things like nose and throat irritation, congestion, sneezing, coughing, and asthma flare-ups. As mentioned in the first blog of this series, childhood asthma has increased 600% over the last 30 years.
