This week Mellissa & Dan D had there wall realigned back to its original location by having the Geo-Lock Wall Anchor System installed. In the past they had contacted us here at Woods Basement Systems to come out and inspect their wall that had several cracks in it from the hydrostatic pressure pushing up against it. Woods sent out an inspector to take a look at what was going on and to give his professional opinion to what system was going to do the best job for them.  As stated above, Mellissa & Dan went ahead and purchased the Geo-Lock Wall Anchor System to have the cracks in the wall closed up and the wall straightened back up.

A production crew was sent out lead by Jeremy Raby to have the work done correctly. When looking to fix a wall painting over the cracks in the wall is never the best idea due to the fact that the water is going to find a new way through the wall. With the wall anchors tightened on and in place, the original staircase cracks as well and horizontal cracks closed right up. Mellissa & Dan took a look at their wall and were amazed with how the cracks they were so worried about had closed up. This basement was given a newer look when Woods Basement Systems installed an EverLast Wall to replace the damaged drywall. Maplewood, Missouri homeowner David R. was concerned about the safety of his uneven walkway. The stairs of his concrete became uneven as the concrete began to sink with the settling soil.

System design specialist Jacob K. designed a solution to restore the walkway to a safe position. Foreman Greg J. installed PolyLEVEL to restore the walkway to its original position. PolyLEVEL is a quick, long-lasting solution that has made David's walkway both safe and beautiful.

Centralia, Illinois resident Lindsay A. was concerned about high levels of radon in her basement. Radon is a naturally gas found in the soil and is the second leading cause to lung cancer. In addition to her concerns about radon, her open sump pump was creating a musty smell in the basement.

Foreman Greg J. installed a dome cover over the sump pump to prevent water from escaping into the basement. More importantly, Greg installed a radon mitigation system to keep the levels of radon detected in the basement at a safe level. Now, Lindsay's basement is free of odor and safe from the carcinogen, radon.

Due to underground water pressure, Butch R.'s Warrenton, Missouri foundation walls began to bow. As the walls bowed, water began to leak into the basement causing damage to the drywall. System design specialist Nolan M. designed a solution for the basement.

Foreman Dillon L. installed Geo-Lock wall anchors to secure the foundation walls and restore them to their original position. After securing the foundation, Dillon and his crew installed WaterGuard and CleanSpace.

CleanSpace keeps the basement dry by guiding water to the WaterGuard drainage system and preventing moisture from escaping. WaterGuard then collects and guides water to the TwinPack sump pump system and away from the basement.

SmartJack support beams were installed by foreman Bradley P. SmartJack can be adjusted as needed over time, making it a permanent solution to their problem. SmartJack is made of galvanized steel, so Shelley and Jeremy have no doubt that their home will stay supported.

When Robert S. of Saint Peters, MO noticed mold in his basement he knew something had to be done. In order to avoid any more mold from forming he knew he had to waterproof his basement. Thankfully for him, Woods Basement Systems are experts at waterproofing and were eager to help out.

They installed the WaterGuard drainage system in the perimeter of the basement floor to direct any water that may sneak in through cracks in the wall to the Twin Pack sump pump where it is discharged through the exterior discharge line. With the addition of the IceGuard, we are able to ensure that those discharge lines wont freeze on you causing a water backup.

Because water flowed down the gradient into her basement, a trench drain was installed to collect the water and guide it away. Additionally, CleanSpace was installed to guide water to WaterGuard and prevent mold growth by preventing water vapor from escaping.

Stephanie's basement has been transformed from wet and musty to dry and comfortable. Now, Stephanie and her family can enjoy the basement worry-free.

Jennifer and Christopher W. of University City, Missouri were troubled by their cracking basement walls. The cracking walls allowed water to leak into the basement and cause mold.

Woods Basement Systems was able to install a CleanSpace Encapsulation system in the crawl space to seal it off from the outside, as well as our SmartSump sump pump and SaniDry dehumidifier to keep the space clean and dry. 

Dorsey, Illinois homeowner Connie S. was displeased with her cracking, uneven driveway and walkway. The uneven driveway began to take a toll on her vehicle and the cracking walkway posed safety concerns for visitors.

Jerry H. of Manchester, MO had cracks throughout his basement. These cracks were a sign of serious structural support issues. Woods Basement Systems was able to install products to fix the support issues.

Woods installed GeoLock wall anchors to fix the support of the home. The anchors would support the structure until it is torn down because it is anchored past the active zone of the yard. The anchors are attached to the wall and extend into the yard. Anchoring past the active zone is important to keeping the house stable and the solution being long term. 

Larry R. of Manchester, Missouri was troubled by his bowing foundation walls. As the walls bowed under pressure, they began to crack and risk the integrity of the foundation. System design specialist Chris T. designed a solution.

Foreman Todd W. installed Geo-Lock Wall Anchors. Geo-Lock straightens the foundation walls to their original position and provides support for the foundation. Larry is relieved to know his home is safe and supported.

Manchester, Missouri resident Robert J. was troubled by his cracked, uneven driveway. As the soil settled, the concrete settled with it. System design specialist Thomas W. designed a solution.

Michael S. of Manchester, MO had water leaking into his basement. The water would puddle in the basement, so Michael could not use the space for storage or living. Woods Basement Systems installed an effective drainage system to help get the water out.

Woods installed WaterGuard to help drain water out of the basement. WaterGuard is installed against the wall in the concrete of the floor. The water will flow into the WaterGuard, allowing the piping to lead the water out of the basement.

A TripleSafe sump pump was installed to evacuate unwanted water. The sump pump will pump the water out through a discharge line that leads the water to the yard. This line can become clogged or frozen at times, in order to prevent the water from receding back into the basement, Woods installed IceGuard. IceGuard is installed on the discharge line next to the house and allows water to escape through it when it is necessary. 

Lena K. of Washington, MO had a radon problem in her home. She tested for radon and found that the radon level in her home was 10.7 pCi/l which is much higher than 4.0 pCi/l, the level that the EPA  recommends a home be at or below for indoor air. Radon is a radioactive carcinogen and the second leading cause of lung cancer so Lena called Woods Basement Systems. Design Specialist Matt S. recommended installing a Radon Mitigation System.

The soil under and around the home is the largest source of radon. Woods drilled a hole in the slab foundation floor to provide an area of least resistance that will draw radon gas up through it. The hole is connected to PVC pipes that can run inside or outside the home and directs the gas upward. Passive mitigation systems use the same system of pipes to ventilate radon away from the home but are not always reliable in keeping radon levels before 4pCi/l. In this active system,the pipe is connected to a fan in the attic that runs continuously, without making noise or using much power, to the gas safely away from the home.

Lena K. is relieved that she no longer has to worry about her home’s air safety or the hazards of radon gas.

Wesley C., Manchester, Missouri homeowner, was distraught when he discovered water leaking into his basement where the floor meets the wall. The water created a musty, moldy environment and risked damaging his valuables. Chris H., system design specialist, designed a solution to ensure the basement stays dry.

Foreman Ryan L. and his team installed WaterGuard. WaterGuard is a perimeter drainage system that collects and guides water to the TripleSafe sump pump system. TripleSafe is equipped with a main pump, backup pump, and battery-powered pump to ensure the basement stays dry. Also installed was IceGuard. Sinking foundations are a homeowner’s nightmare. If the problem is not fixed soon then it can get worse, fast. That’s why Dan and Verma of Mc Leansboro, MO called Woods Basements Systems. System Design Specialist Brandon B. was able to come up with a plan for them.

Foreman Joshua B. installed a SmartJack under the sinking portion of the house. A SmartJack is a device that will take the weight of the house and prevent it from sinking any further. Now, Dan and Verma can quit worrying about the sinking foundation and enjoy their home!

Melissa D. of Manchester, Missouri noticed that she had cracking and bowing in her basement walls. She did not want to ignore the problem and allow it to get worse or cause more damage. She called Woods Basement for help.

Design specialist Dontae H. discussed the situation and solution with the homeowner. Foreman Jeremy R. then headed to the home to install a PowerBrace Foundation Wall System. The system consists of adjustable steel I-beams that are fastened to the joists above the wall. It can be tightened to help stabilize and straighten the wall. 

Melissa D. no longer has to worry about her basement walls bowing and cracking. She now has stable, straight, and safe basement walls.

Mark B. of Manchester, MO noticed that the concrete floors in his basement were beginning to crack as the result of uneven concrete settlement. This can occur naturally as the result of an accumulation of the weight of the concrete in addition to an accumulation of the weight of what the concrete is responsible for holding up. Aware that the issue needed fixing, he decided to call Woods Basement Systems for a free estimate.

Systems Design Specialist Chris T. came to the home and determined that the appropriate solution would be for foreman Juan H. to install PolyLevel. PolyLevel is a foam injection that works to lift the concrete back to its original position and fill in cracks.

Keeping your basement dry is very important to homeowners who have sump pumps. That’s why Mike and Michele W called Woods Basement Systems. One of our System Design Specialist recommended several products for them.

The first product installed was CleanSpace Drainage Matting. This is a thick tarp like material that will line floors and walls, this will allow water to drain, and will stop water vapor from coming in. The second product was a TripleSafe sump pump. Unlike traditional sump pumps, the TripleSafe has three pumps inside it. The first removes water like a normal pump. The second pump is more powerful and will kick in if there is too much water flowing in. The third pump is battery operated and will turn on if the power goes out. The final product is a SmartPipe, it accepts water from the soil and surface of the crawlspace and will drain it away from the house. 

Mellissa and Dan D were concerned when they noticed that their basement walls were beginning to bow. So, they decided to call Woods Basement Systems. System Design Specialist Dontae H was able to come up with a solution to the problem.

Foreman Jeremy R installed a PowerBrace Assembly in Mellissa and Dan’s basement. The PowerBrace will attach to the walls and keep them from bowing any further than they already have. The device will also be able to straighten the wall overtime.

Michael G. of Manchester, Missouri was shocked to discover his home's crawl space was holding water. He knew standing water could cause rotting and mold growth, so he called Woods Basement Systems for assistance.

Design specialist Peter N. assessed the situation and came up with the perfect solution. He decided that a CleanSpace encapsulation system would fix the homeowner's problems. Foreman Josh B. then traveled to the home to start the job.

Shirley in Alsey, IL was looking for a clean, dry, and easy-to-use access point for her home's crawlspace, so she called Woods Basement Systems to explore her options. Design Specialist David F. gave her a free estimate and recommended the ideal choice for her needs.

Foreman Juan H. and his team installed an EverLast access well to give Shirley a safe and reliable way to access her crawlspace. EverLast wells are made of polyurethane and are immune to rust, rot, or corrosion, and they provide a watertight seal when paired with an Everlast door like the one Shirley opted to have installed. Michael and Janet of West County began noticing water coming into their basement where the floor meets the wall during heavy rains. The water had already damage furniture and valuables, and they wanted to solve the problem as quickly as possible.

A Woods Basement Systems team led by foreman Tyler S. got to work quickly and began waterproofing the space. First, a WaterGuard drainage system was installed underneath the floor at the base of the walls to catch leaks before they're able to make it into the space. After this, a TwinPack sump pump was put in place to remove any and all water caught by the drains. The final step was to install IceGuard on the exterior discharge line outside of the home to prevent any freezing issues. Michael and Janet no longer have to worry about water in their basement!

Connie from Byrnes Mill, Missouri wanted to find a quick and permanent solution to fix her sinking foundation, so she reached out to Woods Basement Systems. System design specialist, Jeremy G., worked with Connie to find a solution to prevent her home from sinking any further. Jeremy gave the recommendation of installing push piers into the footing of the foundation to lock and lift the foundation back into its original place. 

Several push piers were installed by foreman Miguel O. and his crew. Push piers are made out of durable galvanized steel and are drilled below the foundation to lift it into place. These piers take the pressure off of the home and the soil that supports the house and places the burden onto the piers. Connie thankfully won't have to worry about the safety of her foundation for many years to come!

Even though this home in Manchester, MO has a good sump pump, it could still be in danger of flooding and water damage. That's because the all the water this pump expels has to go through a single pipe. If there is too much water in the basement, the pipe won't be able to keep up, even if the pump can.

The solution is simple; add an extra pipe. Foreman Dave P. was able to replace the restrictive drainage system in this Manchester home by installing a new sump pump and exit line.  The new sump pump works more comfortably and the allowed room for a second pipe to help drain the basement.

Now, if water levels get too high for the original piping, there's a second set ready to help relieve the pressure and keep the basement dry. 

In Manchester, Missouri homeowner John F. was worried about the cracks forming on the inside and outside of his home. This basement in Chesterfield, MO. was experiencing water leaks through tiny cracks in the foundation walls. These cracks would allow water to leak into the basement, where it would soak into the back of the finished wall. Over time, this small leak would cause large damage to the vulnerable materials of the wall like the wood, insulation and paint.

To protect these walls, foreman Mike J. from Woods Basement Systems installed CleanSpace™ across the surface of the foundation walls behind the finished walls. CleanSpace™ is a vapor barrier designed to protect crawlspaces, but has been adapted to also work in basements. It works by permanently fastening to the foundation wall and blocking any water leaks from passing through to the finished wall on the other side. CleanSpace™ is made from a tear-proof material designed to last and features an anti-microbial layer that blocks mold growth across its surface. Any water that gets blocked by CleanSpace™ gets funneled down into the perimeter drainage system, where it gets carried to the sump pump and removed from the home.

With CleanSpace™ on the foundation walls, the finished walls will stay protected and dry and the homeowners won't have to worry about replacing them because of water damage.

Window wells are often made from sheets of corrugated metal that barely hold back the dirt around the window and do nothing to stop the water and mud that can rain in from above or seap up from below. The metal sheets can also grow rusty and dirt floor of the window well can grow weeds that block the light.

Rather than live with dirty windows and dingy window wells, homeowner Jackie G. hired Woods Basement Systems to improve her basement windows with SunHouse™ window well enclosures. The SunHouse™ is more than a simple metal sheet that holds back some dirt, it is an entire enclosure that protects the window from every direction. The SunHouse™ is made of a rigid material that will not only hold back the ground around the window, but also covers the bottom of the window well to block weed growth and mud from rising in front of the window. The top of the enclosure is made from a clear plastic that allows light to enter the window without letting rain or debris from falling into the window well. Because the floor and walls of the SunHouse™ are bright (and not muddy or rusty) they will reflect even more light into the basement, making the inside brighter and cheerier as well.

Many basement windows leak as the window well or the groung around the window fills with water. This water level rises until it's even with the window, where it leaks in through the gaps and cracks around the window frame. This water will drip down the inside of the wall, where it can cause damage to anything leaning against the wall and can puddle up on the floor or evaporate into the basement air. All of these possibilities are harmful to the health of the basment and indeed the house as a whole. 

Rather than allowing the water to build up outside the window, Ben S. installed a WellDuct™ that would drain the area before the water levels could get too high. The WellDuct™ works by adding a drain beneath the window through which water can flow. The water enters the basement through a covered and sealed channel that directs the water down into the perimeter drainage system. From there, the water is carried to the sump pump, which will remove it from the home entirely. This entire journey is traveled through protected channels that prevent the water from ever leaking into the basement space where it could cause problems. As an added bonus, the WellDuct™ system has a slim design that allows it to be hidden away behind the finished wall that it is protecting. 

The wooden studs and drywall of this finished wall will be protected from leaking windows thanks to the WellDuct™ that drains the water away before it can leak inside. 

Homeowners Brenda and Paul M. of Manchester, Missouri were finding cracks around their home indicating some foundation problems.
