In the photo you can see a shadow at the top of the wood studs on the foundation wall: this is how far in the finished drywall needed to be because of the bowing in effect. The reason we were called out to this Decatur, Illinois home was to stop the wall from moving in any further. The wall continued to push in damaging the finished drywall and the homeowner wanted to fix the problem once and for all. Otherwise, just resetting the finished wall in a couple of inches only would buy time until the force of the inward movement would damage the drywall a second time. We installed our Geo-Lock® wall anchoring system to permanently solve the problem.

Disrepair in a foundation can stem from a number of places, but most often is caused by poor soil that can no longer support the weight of the house. The solution? We use jack posts and foundation piers that go down to more stable soil to provide a more permanent solution to cracked, sinking floors. Additionally, our methods of using wall anchors and the I-Beam wall braces are proven to correct bowing, leaning walls.
Problems with uneven concrete on your patio or sidewalk? We know this can be a serious safety hazard, which is why we use PolyLEVEL concrete lifting. The PolyLEVEL is injected under the concrete with an injection hole no bigger than a penny. The PolyLEVEL then becomes a support for the concrete and fills in the gaps left by failing soil, making the concrete slab even again.
When water builds up in a basement, it can become a breeding ground for mold and mildew which not only creates an unpleasant, musty smell, but also can cause damage to foundations in the future. Some of the main reasons that waterproofing in basements fail is a sump pump failure, leaky pipes, or water being let in during rain storms. Such problems can be remedied by installing a professional-grade sump pump and a dehumidifier. These products will ensure that the area remains dry and free of humidity and moisture, making the basement energy-efficient as well.

We have the products and time-tested methods that will keep your basement free from water damage. The EverLast wall panels are a great addition to any basement refinishing project because of their many benefits such as being stronger than dry wall; being mold and mildew resistant; never needing paint; and the warranty that they come with.

Jason W. of Decatur, IL had a very wet crawl space. Water leaked into the crawl space and made the dirt floors a muddy mess. Even though he had a plastic liner in there, it did was flimsy and did nothing to keep water out of the space. The standing water from the leaks made the crawl space very humid which was rotting the wood floor joists and rusting pipes and ductwork that ran through the space. He couldn’t use the space for storage and was worried about the damage caused by the amount of moisture in the crawl space so he called Woods Basement Systems. Woods recommended a crawl space encapsulation system.
Woods installed CleanSpace along the foundation walls and dirt floors in the crawl space. Unlike the flimsy, 6 mil thick liners that bunch and rip, CleanSpace is a 20 mil thick, durable plastic moisture barrier that is secured in place to form an airtight seal and prevent moisture as well as outside air and pests from entering the space. It directs moisture to the drainage system below. It’s also treated with an anti-microbial finish that prevents mold and mildew growth on or under the liner.
Drainage matting was installed under the CleanSpace liner. Its dimpled designed provides channels for standing water under the encapsulation system to disperse to the drainage system.
The SmartPipe drainage system was installed along the perimeter of the crawl space. SmartPipe has multiple rows of channel holes that are covered in a special filter fabric that prevents it from being clogged by mud or other debris as it collects water from the foundation walls and dirt floors and drains it to the sump pump.
The SmartSump was installed to accept the water from the SmartPipe and expel it safely away from the crawl space through its discharge line. The SmartSump contains a powerful cast-iron pump and features a lid that was designed to form an airtight seal with the CleanSpace liner. It also has a WaterWatch alarm to alert the homeowners of possible plumbing leaks within the encapsulated crawl space.
An IceGuard was installed on the discharge line on the exterior of the crawl space. If the line becomes frozen or blocked by snow during the winter, the IceGuard has slotted openings to allow trapped water to escape to the yard and not back up into the basement.
Jason W. is thrilled he can finally use his crawl space for storage and he no longer has to worry about damage from high humidity.
Dave K. of Decatur, IL had a major water problem in his crawlspace. Water was flooding into his crawlspace and had nowhere to go. The standing water was causing the wood beams in the crawlspace to rot and mold to grow along the walls. Dave was worried about the water damage and wanted to make his crawlspace a usable space so he called Woods Basement Systems for a free estimate. Design Specialist Kevin E. inspected the crawlspace and recommended crawlspace encapsulation.
Over the walls and floors of the crawlspace, CleanSpace vapor barrier was installed. CleanSpace is a thick plastic liner that prevents moisture from entering into the crawlspace and gives the crawlspace a brighter and cleaner appearance. Drainage matting was installed along the dirt floors of the crawlspace underneath the CleanSpace. Drainage matting is dimpled which provides channels for standing water to disperse to the drainage system.
Along the perimeter of the crawlspace, SmartPipe was installed. SmartPipe is a drainage system designed for crawlspaces with dirt floors. It has rows of holes that are covered in filter fabric so it won’t become clogged with dirt or debris as it collects water from the floors and foundation walls of the crawlspace and drains it away to the sump pump for removal.
The TwinPack sump pump system was installed. The Twin Pack contains two powerful, cast-iron pumps that ensure that water is being pumped out of the crawlspace through its discharge lines, even in severe weather. On the exterior of the crawlspace, IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines. IceGuards have slotted openings to allow water to escape if the lines become frozen or clogged.
Within the crawlspace, the SaniDry dehumidifier was installed. The SaniDry prevents rot, mold growth and musty smells in the crawlspace by keeping the relative humidity low.
Dave K. is thrilled that his crawlspace is now usable and he can safely store his belongings.
Rod Z. of Decatur, IL had a surprising amount of water coming into his basement along cracks that had formed between his walls and floors, which was causing mold and mildew to grow. He also had large stair step cracks along the stone bricks of his foundation walls. He was worried these might be signs of larger problems so he called Woods Basement Systems for a free assessment. Design Specialist Greg B inspected the inside and outside of the home and found the perfect solution for Rod.
Woods installed Geo-Lock Wall anchors along the walls. Geo-Lock Wall Anchors permanently stabilize walls using steel wall plates connected through the wall to galvanized steel earth anchors by an anchor rod. They are tightened to ensure the wall won’t move or bow any further and in most cases, can straighten the walls. In an area where the outside of the foundation wall was inaccessible, they installed a PowerBrace. PowerBraces are heavy-duty steel beams that are fit against the wall and held in place by steel brackets attached to the cement floor and wooden floor joists. They prevent the wall from moving in any further and because they are adjustable, they can be tightened over time for the opportunity to straighten the wall.
WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the basement, under the concrete floors. It’s a drainage system that sits on top of the concrete footing of the foundation so it is out of the way of any mud that may clog it. It collects water coming in through the walls and floors and drains it away to the sump pump.
A Twin Pack sump pump system was installed. It contains two powerful, cast-iron pumps, a primary and secondary, to ensure that if one pump fails or can’t keep up with all the water coming in, the other pump will keep unwanted water pumping out of the basement through the discharge lines. On the discharge lines, IceGuards were installed. It’s slotted openings allows trapped water in discharges lines that have become frozen or clogged to flow out into the yard, rather than run back into the basement.
Rod Z. is happy to know his foundation walls are permanently stabilized and his basement will stay dry even in severe weather.
