Drainage Matting was installed along the dirt floors under the CleanSpace. Drainage matting has a dimpled design that gives standing water under the encapsulation system channels to disperse to the drainage system.

The SmartPipe drainage system was installed along the perimeter of the crawl space. SmartPipe has multiple rows of channel holes covered in filter fabric to prevent it from being clogged by mud and debris as it collected water from the foundation walls and dirt floors of the crawl space and drains it to the sump pump.

Woods replaced the old, non-functional sump pump with the SmartSump. The SmartSump expels the water collected by the SmartPipe safely out and away from the crawl space through its discharge line. It contains a powerful cast-iron pump within its sump liner that was designed to form an airtight seal with the CleanSpace moisture barrier.

The old dehumidifier was replaced by the SaniDry dehumidifier. The old dehumidifier was only able to remove up to 32 pints of water from the air per day. The SaniDry is much more powerful while remaining energy efficient and can remove up to 109 pints of water from the crawl space air each day. It keeps relative humidity low to prevent musty smells and the conditions that cause rot and mold growth.

IceGuards were installed on the discharge lines on the exterior of the home. They feature perforations that allow water to escape into the yard if the lines become frozen so it won’t back up into the basement.

Michael R. of Alton, IL had foundation walls that were severely bowing. The bowing had also called large cracks to form along the walls which were leaking water into the basement. Michael didn’t want the walls to turn into an even worse problem so he called Woods Basement Systems for a free estimate. Design Specialist Chris Tite assessed the foundation walls and found that the best solution would be to install a wall support system.

Geo-Lock Wall Anchors were installed along one of the bowing walls. Geo-Lock Wall Anchors counteract external pressure on the walls caused by unstable soil conditions. By connecting earth anchors buried in stable soil in the yard to wall plates on the inside of the walls with anchor rods, the walls are permanently stabilized. They can also straighten walls over time in most cases.

On walls where the yard was inaccessible for anchors, PowerBraces were installed. Adjustable steel columns are custom fit to the height of the basement and are fit firmly against the walls with steel brackets on the concrete floors and floor joists of the basement. PowerBraces halt any further progression of the walls and can also improve walls by tightening them when conditions are dry.

Michael has peace of mind that his walls are secure and permanently stabilized.

Michael W. of Alton, IL already had a wall support system and basement waterproofing system installed by Woods Basement Systems. During his annual maintenance, he pointed out areas where the walls were looking dingy due to previous water damage. Service Technician Ben Scobbie recommended installing BrightWall panels.

Woods installed the BrightWall panels over the dingy walls. BrightWall panels are made of rigid, durable white plastic that never needs to be painted and are washable. They are waterproof and form a vapor barrier over the foundation walls, preventing moisture from entering the basement and directing it to the perimeter drainage system. They give the basement a much brighter, cleaner appearance.

Woods installed power braces in the basement to give the structure support and fix the foundation issues. The power braces are attached to the top of the structure and at the basement floor. They are used to push and hold the wall to stop inward wall movement. Over time they will help restore the vertical integrity of the foundation wall.

Woods also installed WaterGuard to help drain water out of the basement. WaterGuard is installed against the wall in the concrete of the floor. The water will flow into the WaterGuard, allowing the piping to lead the water out of the basement.

A TripleSafe sump pump was installed to provide escape for any unwanted water in the space. Water that may still get into the space will be pumped out through a discharge line that leads to the yard. If this line becomes frozen or backed up, IceGuard will prevent the water from receding back into the basement.

Leaky window wells caused unwanted water to come into this resident’s home and created even more problems in their unfinished basement.  The homeowners were tired of dealing with water in their basement every time it rained, and they wanted a permanent waterproofing solution.

Woods Basement Systems installed a WellDuct window well drainage system and WaterGuard in order to prevent their basement from flooding again. The WellDuct window well drainage system is designed and manufactured to solve problems with leaky window wells.  It includes cleaning out the window well, filling it with clean stone, and installing a grate to drain the window well water to the WellDuct.  The WellDuct system solves water problems and works perfectly with the WaterGuard waterproofing system.

The residents were very pleased with the work done by Woods and now enjoy a clean and dry basement.

Eric was unhappy with how his home seemed especially cold during the winter.  He didn’t want to use space heaters forever to maintain his comfort level.  He needed a permanent solution to this on going problem.  When he called Dr. Energy Saver he was impressed with the knowledge and the willingness to help him and make sure the problem is fix permanently.  Jake Hurst, the contractor, explained to Eric that the best way to warm up his house was to air seal with foam.  By doing this, the foam would reduce air infiltration, conductive heat transfer, humidity and dryness, improve indoor air quality and reduce entry points for insects and other pests.  Eric couldn’t say no to all these benefits so he went for the deal and now lives in his home much warmer.
